Info:              The beginnings of theatre in Opava date back to 1804. This tradition has survived to this day when the Silesian Theatre has two ensembles – drama and opera (which also includes the ballet ensemble). Every season the theatre puts on dozens of performances, including more than ten premieres. The main purpose of the state-funded organization Silesian Theatre Opava is to rehearse and stage theatrical and musical-theatrical performances.

Info:              The Opava Cultural Organization is a city-funded organization that organizes cultural events, exhibitions, concerts, and animation programs for children. The organization manages the Municipal House (including the permanent exhibition Journey of the City), the House of Arts with the adjacent St. Wenceslas Church, and the Swedish Chapel. The organization holds hundreds of events throughout the year, such as concerts, exhibitions, animation programs, guided tours, and more. It organizes the Bezručova Opava festival, subscription concerts for lovers of classical music, and participates in festivals and events organized by other institutions in the city.

The building of the former Austro-Hungarian bank is located in the upper part of Ostrožná Street. The main social center of the Municipal House is the Mayor's Hall, where lectures, events, and banquets are held. On the first floor, there is a permanent exhibition on the history of Opava called The Journey of the City, which presents the history of Opava from the first settlements to the end of the 20th century. The Municipal House Gallery on the second floor offers exhibitions of contemporary art. On the same floor, there is also the Schössler Lounge with a terrace, which is used for smaller cultural and social events. In the basement, there is the Art Club, where concerts, theater performances, and other events, including alternative cultural events, are held. 

House of Art in Opava (Pekařská 12, 746 01 Opava)
The House of Art is a former Dominican monastery. The building houses a gallery, art school and a wine bar U Přemka. A part of the premises is also St. Václav’s Church from the 13th century where weddings, classical  music concerts and social events take place. The gallery offers exhibitions of contemporary art, exhibitions of prominent artists, and presentations of art college studios.
